Dr. Griffith earned a B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in Biblical Exegesis, both from Wheaton College in Illinois, before earning a second master’s degree in Biblical and Pastoral Studies from Bethlehem College & Seminary. His Ph.D. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary focused on Biblical Spirituality and Church History. Since 2018, Griffith has been a Senior Fellow at the Andrew Fuller Center for Baptist Studies at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Griffith came to Northwestern from Southwest Baptist University, where he served as Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, Chief of Staff, and Associate Professor of Church History. Previously, as Director of Integrated Curriculum and Founding Director of Undergraduate Studies at Bethlehem College and Seminary in Minneapolis, Griffith led the faculty in the development of degree structure, courses, and curriculum—much of which was done in alignment with a classical education model—while also developing systems for student advising and mentorship. Administratively, Griffith’s experience extends beyond education to both church and nonprofit parachurch ministry, having served as Interim Executive Director at The Gospel Coalition and as Pastor for Operations and Training at Cities Church in St. Paul.

Samantha is a Vocal Music Education major from Phillips, Wisconsin. She is part of Richard Joseph’s voice studio and is a soprano in the Northwestern Choir!  She aspires to be a choir teacher in northern Wisconsin or Minnesota and desires to make a difference in the lives of her students. 

She has a passion for music and has loved it for as long as she can remember. She participated in choir throughout high school and was part of the band during her senior year. She also took six years of piano and sang with the UNW Jazz Band last year during their February performance. 

Aside from music, she loves reading, baking, kayaking, writing, and biking! Above all, Samantha hopes to instill a love for music in her students and to show them how they can glorify God through their gifts!

Marie is a current vocal music education major from Pella, IA, but has spent thirteen years of her life in Niger. She loves making cross-cultural connections, especially with music! She is a member of the Northwestern choir and has several years of experience leading and playing for worship teams throughout her high school and collegiate years. Outside the Academy of Music, Marie has taught beginner guitar lessons, voice lessons, and worship piano lessons. Marie loves connecting with students and families, and looks forward to serving you!

Rebecca Hasselblad comes to UNW with more than 30 years of accounting-related experiences. She has served as Senior Manager of Academic Operations at University of Northwestern – St. Paul since May 2019. Prior to working at Northwestern, she served as Financial Manager at Bethany Academy, Accounting Manager at Bethany Press International, and as the Manager for U.S. Accounting Operations with Katun Corporation. Professor Hasselblad is committed to preparing graduates to effectively apply biblical principles to their decisions in the field of accounting. She holds a B.A. in Business Accounting from Bethel University and a Master of Accounting from Minnesota State University, Mankato, as well as a Graduate Certification in Taxation.

Emily L. Sharrett is completing her Ph.D. in English at Loyola University Chicago while serving the University of Northwestern – St. Paul community as a Visiting Instructor of English in the Department of English & History. She researches how writers make use of classical rhetoric and environmental thought in early modern British literature, especially in English Renaissance drama. Her literature, composition, and professional writing courses prepare students to craft and voice well-reasoned responses to research questions that frequently invoke nature in physical and symbolic registers. Sharrett received her B.A. in English Literature and Political Science from Miami University of Ohio and her M.A. in English from Loyola University Chicago.
