Why Now?
As recently as May 4, 2026, Minnesota’s Office of Higher Education announced that its state grant program has a severe budget deficit, to the tune of $131 million for the next two years. Many Northwestern students rely on these need-based grants to attend classes at UNW, and the redistribution of funds to other state programs is projected to have a significant impact on those individuals’ ability to enroll for the upcoming school year. For many, this means a decrease of $500 to $7,000 in state-funded financial aid this fall.
There is a meaningful and immediate way for you to help these students. The Northwestern Scholarship Fund provides financial aid to a large percentage of our students, ensuring that no one walks this journey alone. You can close unexpected financial gaps created by recent changes to programs like the Minnesota State Grant. Would you prayerfully consider a gift to support students in need?
