Shanna is an adjunct professor teaching elementary and secondary art methods courses. Ironically, she is following in her father’s footsteps as these courses had been previously taught by him, a retired UNW professor and advisor. In addition to being an adjunct professor, she currently teaches art full time at Blaine High School, primarily jewelry and craft design and drawing courses. She received her BA from Taylor University and spent the first eleven years of her career doing nonprofit social work. Then she went back to school and received her MA in Education from Bethel University. She is now also an adjunct professor for Bethel University teaching their graduate art method course.

In her free time she enjoys raising her daughter, spending time in nature, and of course creating art. She believes that since God is the ultimate Creator and we are made in his image, we are all meant to reflect that and be creators of beauty and truth.

Kristen manages our webpages and our office’s communication to students. She also works with transcript request processing and directed study, tutorial, and internship registrations.

Fun fact: Kristen has always loved reading and has written and self-published multiple books under the name K.M. Higgins.
