Heidi Sawyer has enjoyed teaching violin students of all ages for over 30 years. She received a B.A. in Music from Luther College where she was concertmaster of the Luther Symphony Orchestra and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She received a full graduate assistantship to continue her education at Western Illinois University, receiving an M.A. in Music with an emphasis in violin performance and Suzuki pedagogy. There she had the privilege of studying with renowned teacher Almita Vamos. Heidi has completed extensive teacher training in the Suzuki method, is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and a past board member of the Suzuki Association of Minnesota. She performs regularly throughout the Twin Cities area as a freelance musician, and plays first violin in the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.

Prior to coming to University of Northwestern, Dr. Parish taught at the University of Kansas in the disciplines of neuromuscular dysfunction and statistics. His specialty areas are Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Nutrition, Adapted Fitness and Assessments. He is also the Northwestern Faculty Athletic Representative.
