Jennifer Wallis is a 2006 graduate of University of Northwestern in St. Paul, MN. She was a vocal music performance major and received her vocal instruction from Carol Eikum, Northwestern’s Coordinator of Vocal Studies. Jennifer was a member of the University of Northwestern Choir as a soprano section leader and was also involved in the college’s opera program, appearing several times on stage during her time there. When teaching, her primary genre of instruction is classical music, but she also enjoys singing and teaching musical theater and some popular music. She firmly believes that a strong vocal foundation can be found in classical instruction. Jennifer is currently researching and applying to graduate schools as she is planning on pursuing a Masters Degree in Vocal Pedagogy in the very near future.

Glen Larson has studied guitar with Jeff Van and James McGuire and performed in master classes with John Holmquist, Turbio Santos, Leo Brouwer, and David Perry. As a student he placed first in the Schubert Club’s fretted instrument competition and has performed extensively with a number of groups. Also a composer, Larson has had several compositions performed throughout the Twin Cities area and by the Moody Bible Institue Guitar Ensemble. He recently completed a compact disc recording entitled Glen Larson A Crucible of Hope.

Doreen Hutchings has been a member of the UNW music faculty since 1999, teaching voice, voice related subjects, and directing the UNW opera workshop program. Previously she has taught at The Pennsylvania State University, Lycoming College and St. Cloud State University.

She spent several summers at Chautauqua Institute in upstate New York as a voice and opera scholarship recipient. A winner of the southeastern Metropolitan Opera Auditions, Hutchings has performed with the Virginia Opera Association, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra & Festival Choir, Saint Cloud Symphony Orchestra, and Buffalo Symphony Orchestra.

Her opera directing credits include many full productions including, Ruth, La finta semplice, Die Fledermaus, The Marriage of Figaro, Cosi fan tutte, and Orfeo, among others. She produces and directs the UNW Opera Workshop productions, founded the Academy of Music Vivace Voices Youth Choir, directs an annual summer Show Choir Camp at UNW, and is the vocal director for the UNW Theatre Department’s musicals.

Hutchings also teaches voice for the Academy of Music while maintaining a private vocal studio off campus. Her students have received prestigious awards in vocal competitions such as Schubert Club, Thursday Musical, Minnesota State High School League, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing (State, regional and national contests).

Hutchings has been a staff member at several churches but she is presently a member of the music staff at Grace Lutheran Church in Andover, where she directs the Grace Choir.

David Kozamchak is an Associate Professor of Music at the University of Northwestern – St. Paul where he has served as the conductor of the UNW Orchestra and Coordinator of String Studies since 2003. In addition to conducting the UNW Orchestra, he teaches violin, coaches chamber ensembles, coordinates the string area, and serves as music director and conductor for music theatre productions. He also maintains a private violin and viola studio through Northwestern’s Academy of Music.

Kozamchak earned his Master of Music degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Missouri-Columbia and his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Texas Tech University. He studied conducting with Edward Dolbashian at the University of Missouri-Columbia and also with Michael Jinbo at the Pierre Monteux School.

Maestro Kozamchak recently served as guest conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica Municipal de Puente Alto in Santiago, Chile in 2015. Under his direction, the UNW Orchestra released its first CD entitled Orchestral Showcase in the spring of 2011.

In February of 2009, the UNW Orchestra was invited to perform at the Minnesota Music Educators Association Midwinter In-Service Clinic as a featured performing ensemble. Kozamchak made his international conducting debut in May of 2007 when he conducted the UNW Orchestra in Padua, Italy as part of the XVII International Music Meeting as well as in performance at Haydn Hall in Vienna.

In the fall of 2006, Kozamchak served as guest conductor for the Saint Paul Civic Symphony. Before moving to Minnesota, he served as the assistant conductor for the Columbia (Missouri) Civic Orchestra during the 2002-03 season. He was a member of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and numerous other orchestras in the West Texas and New Mexico area.

For six years, he was the orchestra director at Trinity Church in Lubbock and a sought-after music director and conductor for musicals. As a chamber musician, he was the founder, manager, and first violinist of Opus IV String Quartet. More recently, he has become increasingly more in demand as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator for school music festivals throughout Minnesota.

Professional organization memberships include the College Orchestra Directors Association (CODA), American String Teachers Association (ASTA) and the Minnesota String and Orchestra Teachers Association (MNSOTA).
