Liza Tkachenko, Ph.D. in musicology, is a music instructor, ethnomusicologist, singer, songwriter, worship leader and conductor.
Before coming to the United States in 2022, Liza taught history and theory of music, including sacred music, for 17 years in Ukrainian public music schools, public music college, and at Irpin Bible seminary. As a member of a folklore ensemble, she performed many concert tours around Europe. Liza also managed music ministry among Baptist churches in her region and was a conductor of choirs and a chamber orchestra.
When war in Ukraine interrupted their peaceful life, Liza and her family emigrated to the United States. Liza leads the youth choir and worship at her church and founded a music studio “Inspiration” where she and her husband give lessons in piano, voice, and violin. They also share their original worship songs through a YouTube channel.
Liza is the author of several presentations on Ukrainian folklore and 15 scholarly articles, mostly dedicated to the motet genre.
