Carrie Vaia has taught traditional, non-traditional, and graduate students for the University of Northwestern since 2003.
Her professional credentials are multidimensional. She is a practicing licensed attorney with the state of Minnesota, and she teaches law at 2 different universities, University of Northwestern, St. Paul and Minnesota State Colleges and Universities-North Hennepin (MnSCU). Additionally, she is authorized by the Minnesota Department of Corrections Prison System to teach incarcerated men and women students to complete a degree program. It is challenging and rewarding. There is never a dull moment.
Her goal is, as students work through her courses, that they are challenged intellectually, to examine the spirit of the law, and determine the ethical boundaries governing business and personal life matters. Additionally, students will be able to generally understand the legal processes and legal concepts related to difficult business and life situations.
Carrie shares with you a little about her personal life. She has family from Northern Italy, which is in the Austrian Alps. And, yes, the food is fabulous there. As an undergraduate student, she took Italian at the University of Minnesota. That turned out to be handy because she can adapt and communicate when she visits Italy. Other interests that go beyond her professional life and which she enjoys are family, hunting and shooting sports, hockey, true stories and documentaries, church, reading the Bible, and learning more about Jesus.
“This is my go-to verse, which has given me strength through life’s many ups and downs.” – Carrie
My Favorite Bible Verse:
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall make straight your paths – Proverbs 3: 5 & 6
