All students are encouraged to participate in research within the program. Biology and Chemistry faculty have ongoing projects for hands-on experience in the lab or in the field.

Typically students conduct research in their junior and senior years with one of our distinguished faculty. Faculty work closely with students to determine a research project, design experiments and analyze data. Students earn college credits toward their degree and are encouraged to participate in one of the many opportunities to present their data a local, national, and international conferences. Students are also encouraged to conduct research in summer programs off site in both national and international REUs and internships. See available undergraduate Research Experiences.

My favorite part was how much independence I was given to design my own experiments and work with high-tech equipment. As a UNW student, all of my coworkers knew I came from a place of faith, and that led to some amazing discussions about science and the Bible in my work place. I was invited to join weekly lab meetings to present my own findings and troubleshoot research problems with my PhD supervisors.
