Laurie has a heart for mentoring and is especially passionate about helping equip young educators with classroom management skills. Her personal teaching philosophy is to “teach children, not curriculum. Teaching and learning is happening at all times. The environments we foster and the way we handle situations will teach the students just as much as the lessons we deliver. Really knowing our students and letting them know who we are on a personal level is foundational to happy and healthy learning environments.”

“The wise in heart are called discerning, and gracious words promote instruction.” Proverbs 16:21

Outside of teaching, Laurie enjoys baking, home decorating, running & resistance training, reading and writing. She is also active at her church, assisting with local and global missions and leads Bible studies in her neighborhood and mentors new believers.
