Northwestern has been an ideal environment for Vaughn to apply her Social Work skills, providing a unique voice in the Psychology and Human Services departments. Vaughn appreciates the opportunity to mentor students, and assist them in exploring the intersection of their faith and calling to help others.
Vaughn provides an informative, structured classroom experience, placing a strong emphasis on students’ applied skills and capacity to effectively help others. Students are encouraged to develop a strong personal faith as a resource, in order to avoid future compassion fatigue in their chosen helping profession.
Vaughn has been teaching at the University of Northwestern-Saint Paul for the past 10 years, and is committed to developing compassionate students that are well-prepared to enter the helping professions.
Vaughn has invested years working in school, day treatment, rehabilitation, and hospital settings with children, adolescents, and their parents. Currently, Vaughn is a Clinical Social Worker at Children’s Hospital in Saint Paul, providing crisis intervention services to families. Vaughn is able to bring relevant client experience into the classroom, providing a value add to course content and crucial conversations within the classroom.
When Vaughn is not in the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, volunteering in the community, and traveling.
