The Influence of Alongside for Educators, an AI Wellness Tool, on Educator Well-Being

Dr. Grell is an experienced educator and academic leader with a doctorate in Educational Leadership (Concordia University, St. Paul) and a background in curriculum design, instructional coaching, and accreditation work. Over the course of her career she’s led school- and district-level initiatives—ranging from K–12 curriculum alignment and professional learning to accreditation projects and program evaluation—that center equity-minded practices, data-driven decision-making, and the thoughtful integration of emerging edtech and AI to improve student and teacher outcomes. She pursued adjunct teaching because she loves helping future educators translate research and best practice into classroom impact, as well as instilling a love of learning into the future generation; faith shapes that calling by grounding her commitment to service, stewardship, and the flourishing of every learner.

Outside my role at Northwestern I remain active in classroom and community-focused work—coaching teachers, designing professional development, supervising teacher candidates, and contributing to research on teacher well-being (pages 2–3). I also prioritize volunteer and outreach efforts that support literacy, STEM access, and career-readiness programs for students. Her faith quietly informs her approach to collaboration and leadership: She aims to lead with humility, encourage others’ gifts, and cultivate learning environments where all students and educators are valued and equipped to thrive. In her free time, she loves to spend time with family and friends, volunteer at her church, attend live music events, and read! She has been married for 15 years, has two beautiful daughters, and a house full of pets!
