Associate Professor of Communication
Ann Sorenson served as Theater Director at Minnehaha Academy for 12 years before coming to University of Northwestern. Ann received her M.F.A. in Film from Columbia University. During her time in New York City, she received a New York Women in Film nomination and a Directing the Actors Fellowship from Columbia University.
Ann was the casting director for the locally produced short film, “Good Morning,” which was accepted into the International Minneapolis St. Paul Film Festival spring of 2008. Currently, she is in development of “Orphan Girl,” a feature script that she plans to direct. Ann is a member of Minnesota Independent Film Project and a founding member of Minnesota Women in Film and Television.
In addition to film, Ann enjoys working on her 100-plus-year-old home in Minneapolis, spending time with family and friends (especially with her nieces and nephew!), cooking, reading, playing Scrabble and gardening.
